Hello

Welcome to my blog. I am the Technology Specialist at Chestnut Hill Academy, a private elementary school in Bellevue, WA, where I have been teaching technology as a standalone subject for the last 9 years. This year I am transitioning to the role of Technology Integration Specialist where I will be helping the core class teachers make better use of the technology in their classrooms. Our intention is that the students will end up learning the same technology skills but in the context of core lessons rather than a seperate technology class. We will most likely still have break out sessions for keyboarding and coding. As part of this transition I have signed up for MTI 562 The Tech Infused Teacher which I hope will help me better support our staff.

  1. Hey there.
Great to "meet" you today. I'm inspired to add a photo to my blog as well and yours reads so professionally I may also need to edit. Looking forward to learning with you in this class and glad to know there's someone in a very similar situation to mine. Keep your management tips coming!

  2. Your goal will work, especially if you can get all the stakeholders involved--teachers, admin, even parents. Once they get used to the idea that technology can pop up anywhere/anytime, they'll come asking you for help.

  3. Hi Sarah
It was a pleasure to meet you on Saturday. I believe that technology should also be blended into core classes rather than a separate technology class. You have a tough job ahead of you...you will be working with classroom teachers to make them digitally literate. Keep your head high and keep smiling. You will make a difference.
